Good looking CHERYL was born on June 30th 1983, in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Her mother, though very catholic, often entered her in modelling contests for children.
When she was six years old, she had already won several competitions and she had appeared in a several British commercials.
When she turned 16, she was admitted to the London’s ‘ROYAL BALLET SUMMER SCHOOL’.
As a dancer, CHERYL performed on the English television show ‘GIMME 5’, a Saturday morning show.
But her true desire was to sing.
So, in 2002, she auditioned for ‘POPSTARS: THE RIVALS’.
The idea behind this television show was to create a ‘BOY BAND’ and a ‘GIRL BAND’ and then let them compete against each other for the title. She made it through the initial audition and was sent to London for the next round. CHERYL reached the final round and became one of the five girls, selected for the band. They chose the name ‘GIRLS ALOUD’ and spent three weeks promoting their single ‘SOUND OF THE UNDERGROUND’. All these efforts clearly paid off, because they were selected the winners, beating the ‘BOY BAND’ by miles.
Their popularity grew by the day, and soon they released their first album, including touring to promote it. It was a big success.
The next years, ‘TWEEDY’ and ‘GIRLS ALOUD’ recorded several other popular albums.
CHERYL co-wrote almost half of the songs that the group recorded.
The band had 18 consecutive Top 10 singles, three number ones, five platinum albums, and over 4.2 million records sold in the UK alone.
In 2005, ‘TWEEDY’ became engaged to ‘CHELSEA’ footballer ‘ASHLEY COLE’. The couple married in 2006.
In 2006, CHERYL once again scored big time by signing a deal to be ‘THE FACE OF COCA COLA ZERO’ for its United Kingdom launch.
‘CHERYL TWEEDY COLE’, as she is now called, goes on recording and performing with ‘GIRLS ALOUD’, bringing joy to the people, everywhere they go.
